The sports fields in the Metropolitan Park are being concessioned! The northern part of this green space in Guadalajara will have a new administration to operate this space.
The Metropolitan Agency for Urban Forests (AMBU) granted a concession for the exploitation of 13 hectares within the park, where soccer fields, baseball fields, paddle tennis courts, and other facilities are located.
The concession will remain in force until 2028 and provides for a private company to operate the fields, offer sports services, and maintain the area.
A concession to operate the sports fields

According to the contract, the company Asfendiles Services will pay 140,000 pesos per month for the use and commercial exploitation of the sports space within the park.
The agreement allows the company to obtain income through different activities, such as:
- Use and rental of sports fields
- Sports classes and schools
- Parking
- Sale of food and beverages
The concessionaire will be responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and the concession area.
The contract will remain in force until 2028, although it provides for the possibility of renewal.
Background: the conflict with Metrogol
Prior to this concession, the fields in the northern part of the park were operated for years by the company Metrogol, represented by businessman Juan Humberto González Valladolid.
The concession ended after a legal dispute that began when the media reported the sale of alcohol without a license within the sports facility.
After the departure, residents of neighborhoods near the park pointed out that several sports areas were left without service and with little maintenance.
With the new concession, residents hope that the northern area of the Metropolitan Park will reactivate its sports activities, improve maintenance, and restore community life to the space.
