With these hot days, it’s really tempting to take a trip to a place to swim, and this time we want to tell you about Charco de la Vaca.
A natural paradise located in the municipality of Cuquío, Jalisco. A river area with a hot spring stream that emerges from among the rocks.
This site is located in the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, so the waters are heated by the subsoil and are rich in minerals.
How to get to Charco de la Vaca from Guadalajara

It is recommended to drive a high-clearance vehicle or SUV, and if it’s your first time, use offline maps or get help from someone who already knows the way.
Take the highway toward Ixtlahuacán del Río and the turnoff toward Cuquío. This last stretch is winding and mountainous.
Keep in mind that there are no restrooms or stores nearby, so you’ll need to bring everything you need to spend the day from the start, just as if you were going to Río Caliente de la Primavera.
What to keep in mind before going

- There is no tourist infrastructure (restrooms, restaurants, or shops)
- Bring water, food, and everything you need
- Wear appropriate footwear for walking on uneven terrain
- Respect the environment: do not leave trash behind
- Avoid visiting during the heavy rainy season
If you prefer a guided tour, the Bionatours project usually organizes trips to this location.
