2027 is already starting to appear on the calendar, and it’s a good time to plan your next getaways.
If you want to make the most of your vacation days by visiting beautiful beaches or “magical towns, ” there are several official long weekends that you can combine with regular weekends to get more time off.
We’ve done the math so you’ll know how to use 13 days of vacation to get up to 34 days off spread out throughout the year.
We’ll also tell you about Holy Week and the official holidays in Mexico.
Here’s how you can make the most of your vacation in 2027
Before we begin, a clarification: this calculation is based on the mandatory days off established in Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law.
The days off include weekends, and we’re not counting Holy Week days as official holidays.
January: Start the year with a long weekend
New Year’s Day — Friday, January 1
You don’t need to use any vacation days. Since the first day of the year falls on a Friday, you’ll have three consecutive days off.
Days off: Friday , January 1, through Sunday, January 3.
Vacation days used: 0.
February: Get nine days off
Constitution Day — Monday, February 1
This is one of the best long weekends of the year. If you take vacation from Tuesday, February 2, through Friday, February 5, you’ll be able to combine the official holiday with two weekends.
Days off: Saturday, January 30,through Sunday, February 7.
Vacation days used: 4.
March: Another long break for Benito Juárez’s birthday
Benito Juárez’s Birthday — Monday, March 15
The third Monday in March is also a good opportunity to extend your time off. Request vacation time from Tuesday, March 16, through Friday, March 19, and you’ll have nine consecutive days off.
Days off: Saturday, March 13, through Sunday, March 21.
Vacation days used: 4 .
September: Plan a four-day long weekend
Independence Day — Thursday, September 16
To take advantage of this holiday, all you need to do is take Friday, September 17, as a vacation day. That way, you’ll get four days off.
Days off: Thursday, September 16,through Sunday, September 19.
Vacation days used: 1 .
November: End the year with nine days off
Revolution Day — Monday, November 15
The last major long weekend of the year lets you repeat the strategy from February and March. Request vacation time from Tuesday, November 16, through Friday, November 19.
Days off: Saturday, November 13,through Sunday, November 21.
Vacation days used: 4.
