1. Explore the town
Start at the Main Square, the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and to enjoy the traditional architecture of the region. The highlight is the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, one of the most iconic churches in the area. Also stop by the Municipal Palace and relax in its gardens.
2. Visit the Teocaltitán Archaeological Site
Ten kilometers from downtown, the Teocaltitán Archaeological Site is a ceremonial center with free admission that disproves the notion that only nomadic groups lived in these areas. Its pyramids offer beautiful views.
3. Sample the local wines
About 15 minutes from downtown is Viñedo Cerca Blanca, where you can enjoy a wine tasting and a tour of the vineyards.

4. Experience the region’s cattle-ranching and charro traditions
Los Altos is a land of ranching and charrería, and in Jalostotitlán, that identity is very much alive. If you visit during festival season (February or August), you’ll find fairs and charrero events with a local vibe.

Try Los Altos-style birria , grilled meats, artisanal cheeses and dairy products , and traditional sweet bread.
