If you are looking for a quiet beach to swim without strong waves, Las Islitas is one of the best-kept secrets on the Nayarit coast.
Located just 15 minutes from San Blas (three and a half hours from Guadalajara), this beach is famous for its extremely calm and shallow waters. So much so that many describe it as a giant natural pool.
Here you can walk several meters out to sea and the water barely reaches your waist, making it an ideal place to visit with your family, especially if you are traveling with young children.
Las Islitas, a perfect beach for camping

Many people take advantage of the opportunity to camp on the beach. Sleeping here is a very special experience because you can listen to the sea all night long and watch spectacular sunsets.
The atmosphere in the village is relaxed and very local: you’ll find palapas facing the sea, tables on the sand, and hammocks. Lots of hammocks!
Some palapas and restaurants on the beach even allow you to camp nearby and use their facilities, usually in exchange for a small fee or by purchasing food or drinks on site.
Try their zarandeado fish

The palapas on the beach prepare the famous San Blas-style zarandeado fish, grilled over charcoal with a mixture of chilies and spices.
You can also try:
- Fresh oysters
- Shrimp prepared
- Seafood tostadas
- Local drinks and desserts
A classic that many recommend is the homemade banana bread sold by street vendors who pass by the beach.
How to get to Las Islitas
