The Michelin Guide has officially arrived in Jalisco, and among the complete list of recognized establishments, one very Guadalajara-style spot caught our attention.
It’s Tacos y Gorditas Elvira, a simple spot inside the Mercado Alcalde where you can have breakfast or order several tacos and gorditas for less than $100 pesos.
The Bib Gourmand category recognizes establishments that offer high-quality food at affordable prices.
The inclusion of this spot demonstrates that some of the best places to eat in Guadalajara are still found in markets, small eateries, and traditional kitchens.
Tacos y Gorditas Elvira receives a Michelin Bib Gourmand award

At this traditional market stall, the dough is prepared fresh on the spot for both the tacos and the gorditas, which are filled with classic stews.
Green beans with egg, potatoes with chorizo, steak, mushrooms, beans with cheese, and a favorite of many: pork rinds.
Everything is served with pico de gallo, salsa, and aguas frescas. And if you still have room, you can also order the butter gordita for dessert.
In addition to Elvira, other casual restaurants in Guadalajara that received Michelin recommendations were:
- Birriería David
- Birriería Las 9 Esquinas
