The World Cup is over for Mexico, but love is still in the air. Now, the main venue of the FIFA Fan Festival is preparing to host group weddings in Guadalajara.
The call is open to all couples seeking to formalize their relationship and save on the associated costs. Currently, the cost of the procedure is up to 2,393 pesos.
The FIFA Fan Festival will still be broadcasting the remaining World Cup matches, but it will take a break. Thus, on Friday, July 17, all couples who wish to get married and meet the requirements will be able to participate in the group weddings.
The city has seen days packed with activities for sports fans.
Upon making the announcement, Mayor Verónica Delgadillo invited interested couples to participate in this initiative for free group weddings and formalize their relationship through a civil ceremony at no cost.
How can you participate in the group weddings in Guadalajara?
The first thing you need to know is that the deadline to register is Tuesday, July 14. By that day at the latest, you must go to any of the Civil Registry offices in our city.
Requirements
- Complete the DIF premarital course.
- A recent, certified copy of each spouse’s marriage certificate.
- Medical certificate.
- Marital property agreement, which may be based on separate property, community property, or a legal partnership.
- Fill out the marriage application available at any of the 23 civil registry offices.
Documents may be submitted at any of the Civil Registry Offices in Guadalajara.
Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
In a statement, the local government estimated that about 1,000 couples would attend these group weddings.
And although there is no dress code, authorities have invited couples to wear soccer-themed outfits. The only thing couples need to bring that day is their INE.
“Score a goal and come get married for free at the best World Cup venue with the love of your life,” said the mayor.
The ceremony, which will be part of the FIFA Fan Festival activities, will take place on Friday, July 17, at a time yet to be confirmed.
