Why does the Santa María del Oro lagoon change color?
The landscape is even more impressive when you realize that the lagoon occupies the crater of an ancient volcano and is approximately 55 meters deep
Depending on the time of year, the wind, sunlight, and the mixing of surface and deep waters, the lagoon can appear in shades of turquoise, emerald green, gray, and even brown.
In April, it usually displays its most turquoise hues, while during the rainy season—from June to October—deeper, darker colors predominate.
What to do in Santa María del Oro?
