After months of complaints about murky water and sediment in dozens of neighborhoods in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, SIAPA confirmed that it will apply an 80% discount on water bills for affected customers.
However, it is still unknown which neighborhoods will receive the benefit. Although a purported list of eligible neighborhoods has been circulating on social media in recent days, authorities have clarified that this is not the official list.
The Jalisco State Human Rights Commission (CEDHJ) will be responsible for providing the relevant information, and SIAPA will subsequently validate the data to determine which areas will be eligible for the discount.
Once this process is complete, the official list of eligible neighborhoods will be released . Additionally , this list may be updated monthly to include new cases if necessary.
Who will be eligible for the SIAPA discount?
According to the decree, the benefit will apply to:
- Residential service users.
- Small businesses with consumption of up to 25 cubic meters.
- Residents of neighborhoods where complaints regarding water quality have been filed with the Jalisco State Human Rights Commission (CEDHJ) since December 6, 2024.

What if your neighborhood isn’t on the list?
The decree also stipulates that individuals not included on the official list may apply for the discount directly at SIAPA offices.
In such cases, the agency will conduct atechnical assessmentto determine whether the benefit should be granted.
As soon as the official list of eligible neighborhoods is published, we’ll share all the details here so you can check whether your address is among those that will receive the discount.
