This year, the rules on external batteries (power banks) at airports have been tightened in several parts of the world. These are the current regulations for Guadalajara Airport!
According to the regulations on prohibited items, objects with lithium batteries (cell phone or laptop batteries) cannot be carried in checked baggage.
If you leave it in your suitcase that goes into the hold of the plane, they may open it, take it out, and dispose of it. It should always go in your backpack or carry-on bag, and you must ensure that it does not exceed 100 Wh (approx. 27,000 mAh).
If your power bank is generic or the label with the mAh or Wh has been worn off through use, it may be confiscated. And remember that ideally there should be no more than two per person!
Why might your power bank be confiscated at Guadalajara Airport?

External batteries are being restricted or banned on airplanes due to their high risk of fire and explosion, as they can overheat.
According to reports, incidents involving lithium batteries on airplanes have increased significantly in recent years.
Some airlines are limiting or banning power banks even in the cabin. If they are allowed, they must go with the passenger, not in the overhead compartment.
For now, in our city they are allowed in carry-on luggage, with the considerations mentioned above, but if you are traveling to an international destination, we recommend that you stay abreast of their regulations.
