Have you heard of the Ajijic Balloon Regatta? Every September, the sky over this “Magical Town” near Guadalajara is filled with color, creativity, and tradition thanks to its famous Cantoya balloons.
Made entirely by hand using rice paper, paste, and a lot of imagination, these enormous balloons can reach heights of over 20 meters and turn the sky into a spectacular sight.
This year, more than a dozen teams will fill Ajijic with color in a celebration that brings together families, visitors, and local residents around this very special tradition.
In addition to watching the balloons take flight, you can enjoy live music, traditional food, and local crafts throughout the afternoon.
