If your cell phone service was suspended because you didn’t register by the deadline, that doesn’t mean you’ve lost your number. Service can be restored once you complete the registration with your phone company.
The process is free, and you can do it online or visit one of your carrier’s service centers with a valid form of government-issued ID. Registration is handled directly by the phone companies, not the government.
Here are the deadlines for registering your line 📅
Check the last digit of your cell phone number to find out when you need to complete the registration:
- 0: August 15, 2026
- 1: August 31, 2026
- 2: September 15, 2026
- 3: September 30, 2026
- 4: October 15, 2026
- 5: October 31, 2026
- 6: November 15, 2026
- 7: November 30, 2026
- 8: December 15, 2026
- 9: December 31, 2026
Once the corresponding deadline passes, carriers have up to 72 hours to suspend lines that have not been registered.
How can you reactivate your cell phone line if it has already been suspended?
If your number has already been suspended for failing to register it, you can still complete the process to restore service. The registration is done directly with your phone company and is free of charge.
1. Go to the official website
Go to registratulinea.crt.gob.mx and select the option to register your line.
2. Choose your phone company
Select your carrier—such as Telcel, AT&T, Movistar, or another—and go to its registration platform.
3. Enter your number
Enter the cell phone number you want to link.
4. Have your ID ready
You’ll need a valid government-issued ID. The website states that you must take a photo of it to verify the document.
5. Verify your identity
Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the verification using your cell phone’s camera.
6. Wait for confirmation
Once registration is successful, your phone company will send you a confirmation. Once the registration is complete, service on the line will be restored.
You can also do this in person:
If you prefer to complete the process in person, you can visit one of your phone company’s service centers with a valid government-issued ID. The staff there can help you complete the registration.
What happens while your line is suspended?
The suspension does not mean you automatically lose your number. Once you complete the registration, the carrier must restore service to the line, including calls, texts, and mobile data.
During the suspension, only certain types of communication will remain available, such as calls to emergency and citizen service numbers, as well as earthquake alerts.
